AI for Businesses Sake – How ThirdEye Data plans to do it
Big data can be an elusive and complex topic that is quickly becoming ubiquitous in today’s startup world. Quite simply big data refers to a wide range of hardware, software, and services required for processing and analyzing enterprise data that is too large for traditional data processing tools to manage.
However, for the many companies that offer big data services, understanding how they work and what they do can be a little more complex. To understand more about big data services, we spoke with Dj Das, Founder and CEO of ThirdEye Data, a Silicon Valley-based consulting company focused on big data engineering and data sciences, who discussed how his company operates and what they have planned for the future.
Can you explain what ThirdEye Data does and how it helps businesses?
ThirdEye is a Silicon Valley-based Big Data services company that leverages Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies to build higher value technical solutions for customers worldwide.
This basically means that ThirdEye has deep knowledge and experiences of working with Big Data technologies since 2011. Over time, the natural progression in our service offerings was to also provide data science services (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning etc. ). We believe that each of these technologies, when leveraged together, can provide higher value to businesses. (Most companies provide either of these services because of their technical limitations.)
What do you consider ThirdEye Data’s greatest achievement within the past 6 months?
ThirdEye has achieved a lot in the past 6 months. One achievement that comes to mind is the many projects being implemented around the world – with no sales office in these countries. Outside of the US, which is our home base, we are now doing projects in Canada, Israel, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Brazil & Spain.
On top of this, we are launching the three open source solutions, along with Syra, our custom-chatbot services. Furthermore, we are also very proud of our application of AI technologies for real-world problems, such as implementing anomaly detection on network data, using AI on molecular data to identify certain traits, and working with an airline company to predict ticket cancellations.
What is the main focus for Third Eye Data over the next 6 months?
Over the next coming months, there are a variety of tasks we would like to focus on such as closing leads in the pipeline from other countries, picking up more AI projects that uniquely solve real-world problems, and maturing the 3 OSS solutions. In addition to this, we are also launching more custom domains that are supported in Syra.
How do you differentiate yourself from competitors?
There are a number of differentiators between us and the competition. Firstly we focus on customer satisfaction. Every stakeholder of all ThirdEye’s client has my mobile phone number and can call me at any time if they have any issues/concerns. Being in such new technical domains, tensions flare up for many reasons. But we are always there for the client. We never take a revenue-centric approach while dealing with a client but always propose what’s best for the client, even though it might mean lower revenues for us. This razor focus on our customer’s needs is the main reason why most of our customers have been with us for so long. (For ex: Microsoft has been our customer for 5+ years now!)
Secondly, we want to focus on technology for Business Sake, not for love-for-technology sake. Even though we are geeks, and love to code and develop technology, we always restrain ourselves and ensure that whatever technologies we are developing are actually solving a business problem.
And finally end-to-end solutions. We don’t work on piecemeal projects and only implement certain areas of the business need. We develop comprehensive end-to-end solutions leveraging our combined knowledge and experiences of big data and data science technologies.
Have you had any constructive feedback from customers, and if so what are they interested in seeing?
Yes, we have received a few pieces of actionable feedback. The first that comes to mind is Timeliness. We work with nascent technologies – which have not yet been fully tried out in real-world scenarios. Hence, many times, we hit roadblocks and have to work very hard to get past them. Such attempts take time and result in delayed deliveries. We make sure that we explain the client of the situation and the reasons for the delay. We try our best to bring the client on the same page.
Additional technical resources has also come up. There are not many technical resources existing in the world today on these nascent technologies. We actually train, educate and mentor developers to make sure that they can perform at the levels required for our project implementations. We try our best to onboard as many technical resources and as soon as possible on the projects that we undertake.
And last but not least, lower rates. The demand of such technical resources is high, while the supply is very low – this results in higher hourly charges for these developers. We leverage developers from both the US and India to have the best blend of hourly rates.
I can see from your Linkedin that you are very experienced in Big Data and Data Sciences. What are you really looking forward to seeing develop from this technology over the next 5 years?
Living in the Bay area for the last 22 years, I have seen many bubbles. And this AI bubble is not a small one!
Within the next 5 years, I really wish to see all these AI technologies get actually deployed for solving real-world problems and elevate the everyday life of the masses. They should not be just conversation topics and buzz-talk, as it is now.
